Aircraft Verification Guidelines
How CollectAirs Ensures Transparency & Trust
Our checks protect both sides. Before an aircraft goes online we confirm that it is real, that it is described honestly and that its papers are complete. We follow the standards used by the main aviation authorities and appraisal bodies.
Identity & Ownership Verification
Purpose: Make sure the seller is allowed to sell, and keep fake listings off the platform.
We verify:
- Ownership documentation
- Registration certificate authenticity
- Authorization to sell (for operators, brokers, or representatives)
- Matching tail number, serial number and documentation data
- Any liens or financial encumbrances (declared by seller)
Outcome: Only aircraft the seller is legally allowed to sell reach our auctions.
Documentation Integrity Check
Purpose: Check that the documents are complete, that they agree with each other and that they are current.
We examine:
- Airworthiness Certificate and ARC (if applicable)
- Logbooks (airframe, engine, propeller, APU)
- Maintenance Release / Certificate of Release to Service
- AD/SB compliance reports
- Weight & balance sheets
- Major repair and STC documentation
- Registration consistency across all documents
Outcome: A checked set of documents, so buyers can see exactly what they are bidding on.
Independent Expert Appraisal
Purpose: Give an independent view of the aircraft's condition and its value.
Conducted by:
- Certified aviation appraisers who have worked on warbirds, classic aircraft, turbine aircraft and jet trainers.
Appraisal includes:
- Physical inspection (when possible)
- Review of logbooks and maintenance history
- Airframe, engine and propeller status assessment
- Verification of total time (TT), TSO, TSN
- Review of modifications and restoration quality
- Operational condition and general presentation
- Damage history evaluation
Outcome: Every listing carries a condition report, so you can decide on facts.
Technical Consistency & Safety Review
Purpose: Confirm that the technical data is correct and honestly presented.
We verify:
- Engine/propeller time consistency across documents
- Last inspection references
- AD compliance status
- Modifications that require certification or STCs
- Avionics configurations (as documented)
- Fuel, electrical and structural modifications consistency
Outcome: Checked technical data, so nobody is surprised after the sale.
Media Accuracy Verification
Purpose: Make sure the photos show the actual aircraft.
We verify:
- The aircraft in the photos matches the papers (registration, colours, configuration)
- No misleading angles and no edited images
- Clear views of the interior, exterior, avionics and engine
- Photos and video shot and dated by CollectAirs (owners do not need to send us anything)
Outcome: Professional photos and video that show the aircraft as it really is.
Risk & Red Flag Screening
Purpose: Find anything that does not add up, and clear it up before the listing goes online.
We screen for:
- Document discrepancies (hours, registration, dates)
- Missing key inspections or unclear maintenance gaps
- Unreported damage or repairs
- Incomplete ownership chain
- Suspicious title/registration changes
- Prices or performance figures that do not look realistic
Outcome: An aircraft only goes live once it passes every check.
Listing Approval & Publication
Once the verification is completed, CollectAirs:
- Confirms accuracy of all documentation
- Finalizes the appraisal summary
- Approves the listing for auction
- Publishes it with checked technical data, the appraisal result and our own photos and video
